Step away from the noise and busyness of everyday life and spend 1.5 hours immersed in the peaceful surroundings of Chestnut Brae’s sweet chestnut orchard.

Orchard Bathing is our farm-based interpretation of the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, commonly known as forest bathing. There is no water or swimming involved. Instead, you will move slowly through the orchard, breathe deeply and use your senses to connect with the natural environment around you. Taking a moment for you, to pause and do something simple for your personal wellbeing.

Beneath the canopy of more than 1,000 chestnut trees, you will be encouraged to notice the sunlight filtering through the branches, listen to birds and rustling leaves, observe insects and farm animals, feel the textures of the trees and take in the changing colours and scents of the orchard.

This is not a rushed walking tour. It is an invitation to pause, become present and experience the farm at nature’s pace.

Your Orchard Bathing Journal provides gentle prompts for sensory awareness, gratitude, creativity, movement and personal reflection, helping you engage more deeply with the orchard and carry some of its calm with you after your visit.
